In Austin, coffee shops cluster around downtown offices, college campuses and the main commercial streets of residential neighborhoods, and the independents usually close by mid-afternoon while chains stay open into the evening. Across Texas, drive-thru coffee stands and kiosks fill the gap in suburbs and along highways, and roasters often sell bags and brewing gear at the counter. Check the listing for hours, whether the cafe takes mobile orders, and its Google rating and recent reviews; parking is easiest at suburban locations, while downtown shops rely on street meters or nearby garages. Loyalty programs are common and worth joining if you are a regular.

Austin is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Austin follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We went there late in afternoon so I was not busy at all. Itβs an all vegan coffee shop so no milk at all. They have tons of alternative syrup house made and chai house made too. They also have gluten free food, some house made some from other vendors. The coffee shop also features products from local artists for sale which is cool to see. Definitely not your typical coffee shop. Pretty cool vibe Parkin along the street.

Lovely little coffee shop. Everything here is vegan and is so delicious. I had the cold brew, vegan breakfast taco and coffee cake and all were incredible! They also sell art and cute stuff.

Cutest coffee shop ever! We tried one of their specialty coffees as well as their matcha and both were delicious. Precious coffee art as well! We tried the chorizo taco which was yummy and the carrot cake was amazing. The coffee shop has many local artist/ businesses art and products on display and for sale which is very convenient if youβre looking for a gift or souvenirs. There is also a community diary/ sketch book which was super fun to look through and we even added our own page (banana pay phone haha). Would definitely come back next time we are in town. PS bonus points for sustainability, supporting local artist, and lots of gluten free options!

Super cute place. The art for sale is always super awesome to browse/shop. Love that itβs no up charge for ANY type of special milk and I never have to worry about having dairy products accidentally here. Great I got to use my HEB coupon, I can afford to come more often! The banana bread was yummy last time. This time I got a latte with a blended banana and vanilla flavor and it was sheer deliciousness! Dean was really helpful-the customer service is always great and love that employees get a fair wage and that prices include everything. This has Fat Cats vibes(RIP) but now this is my only known place for artsy vegan treats and coffee shop. Worth the special trip if you donβt live close. <3

Oh man oh man I LOVE THIS place. Why? Because it reminds me of old Austin I miss, the Austin is weird part that supports local artisans/businesses and is funky and cute without being bougie and pretentious like the newer places coming in. Although itβs located in a newer building the coffee shop is such a welcoming space and reminds me of the old Austin vibe I miss. Located in central East Austin, Dear Diary has a plethora of vegan drink and treats and donβt be thinking just because itβs vegan it lacks in flavor and delivery. I had their special lavender black matcha which was earl grey lavender drink and it was delicious and creamy even with using oat milk. Food wise I had the spicy seitan kolache that was warmed up and delicious. Service was super friendly (I am sorry I canβt call out barista so she gets the $5 tip but she has extremely short hair working Sunday afternoon). Space inside is beautiful with plenty of tables to sit and work and the chairs all have cushions which makes the chairs more comfortable. The music they were playing in the background was soothing. Also free WiFi was strong! Parking is also free and easy plenty of street parking.
